Introducing the P.R.E.S.E.N.T method of practice to increase vitality, joy and flow in your life.
Purposeful (or intentional rather than habitual)
Begin the day with an intention in mind. As you go about your usual routine repeat this intention to
yourself and honour it. Stay with it throughout the day, notice how if influences your behaviours and
connections as well as the way you feel and move. Your normal habits and way of being that is
familiar may kick in. Notice this, be aware of them and how they influence you. At the end of the
day see if and what has shifted for you.
Release (rather than holding on whatever that is no longer serving you)
Try releasing or letting go of something that affects you every day. Pick an area that is no longer
serving you. It can be an emotion, a thought you have been holding on tightly or a certain
expectation that is creating conflicts. Let your intentions guide you through and trust the process, rather than trying too hard.
Empower (rather than being a victim of circumstances)
When you are self-empowered, you are driven more so by intrinsic motivation than external
rewards. Pick something you are passionate with. Give some attention and time into this aspect.
Whatever you focus goes, your energy goes.
Silence (rather than noise)
Silence ; yourself most and be able to really listen ( rather than hear ) others
Listen and notice the experience of silence. Notice if there are moments where you need to fill
yourself with noise to distract yourself? Are you trying to cover hide or cover something up Do you
feel comfortable with silence?
Explore (rather than being passive)
Try something new . It can be a new route to work, a new place for your yoga matt in class, a
different lunch. You could chose a new way of talking to someone or trying a new hobby?
Think about what excites and scares you and if you know why
Nourish (rather than deprive)
Nourishment isn't just the food you consume. We are constantly consuming everyday, through the
internet, from our friends, family and colleagues, from the media, etc.
What kind of content do you want to consume more of?
What do you want to cut down at the same time?
As you witness yourself consuming during the day, take note of where your attention goes and if you
want it to be taken there.
Ultimately, we are what we consume, everyday.
Togetherness (rather than separation or isolation)
Connections, unity and collaboration are food for the soul. Go out and purposely connect with
someone. Whether it is people you are familiar with or meeting new people.
Take note of your shared interests. Take note of what you gain and learn? Take note of what you
intentionally offer?
